"The key to strengthening our families is having the Spirit of the Lord come into our homes. The goal of our families is to be on the strait and narrow path."

Halloween FHE

Back Story: Halloween has been an ellusive holiday for Avery all his life. When he was 4 months old in October of 2003, we dressed him up as a Lion ( Thanks to Michelle for that adorable costume.) And he slept through the whole night of celebrating and trick or treating. In 2006 he dressed up as Tigger, while his best friend Emma dressed up as Piglet. What a cute pair they were. It turned out that Avery was sick with a very bad cold and Stacy wouldn't let him out of the apartment. So, Emma and her parents were kind enough to visit our little sick Tigger and bring him candy. In 2007, Avery still couldn't catch a break, he was sick AGAIN and couldn't go out to trick or treat! So, we stayed in frosting cookies with our neighbors and Avery passed out candy to the kids who came to his door. He really hasn't had a chance to get the full excitement of All Hallows Eve.

This year we are crossing our fingers and hoping for the best! And in preperation of the fast coming Halloween night, we had a Halloween FHE. (which takes place on friday nights because Ryan works Monday nights.) We had a lesson about keeping our promises. Then we dug right in and went full force into the halloween festivities and made Halloween magnets. And while it was quite the mess, Avery had a lot of fun, and so did we. We always enjoy seeing him be creative while have fun. Here are some pictures of our evening.

When we were done with our halloween activity we decided to have some halloween candy! What can we say...we busted it out already. Hopefully we will have some left to pass out when it comes time.

This is Avery making sure all his M&Ms are accounted for...well, all the ones he hadn't eaten yet.
Having Family Home Evening isn't something we have always been good at or consistant in. But we are starting a new year resolution of doing it now, so when 2009 starts we will be in the habit of it. Wish us luck...we hope it goes well.

Boys Camping Trip

UEA week has come and gone. But while in the midst of it the boys went camping. Rich, Ryan, Avery, Chad and Jordan went up to Nuns Park in Provo Canyon for an overnight camping trip. Here are some pictures of there adventures.

If you look closely on the leaf you can see a bug of some kind.

Chad and Jordan warming themselves to the fire and roasting marshmallows.
Meanwhile, Stacy was home ALL BY HERSELF! And it was bliss! She gave herself a manicure and pedicure and watched one her of her favorite TV shows and went to bed early and slept in the next morning. Although she enjoyed having a break with the boys away, she was happy to welcome Ryan and Avery home.
What a fun weekend for all of us!
